This is the 23rd National Championship, and large-scale performance events such as this are critical in stimulating creativity; showcasing young performers and building pride. Over the years, over 9 400 members have participated in the Field Band National Championships.

A key highlight of the championships this year is the heartfelt homage to the renowned activist and singer, Nina Simone. The Nina Simone Charitable Trust, which supports black youth in music, resonates deeply with the Field Band Foundation’s vision of empowering young people to become self-confident and empowered through music-making, promoting inclusivity and personal agency. It is through the Trust’s support, that the national championships this year are possible.

“This event not only highlights the exceptional talent of our youth but also commemorates the impactful legacy of Nina Simone and the efforts of the Nina Simone Charitable Trust in promoting musical education and inclusivity,” said Ushama Ross Jerrier, National Operations Manager for the Field Band Foundation.
