What began nearly 30 years ago as a casual Spring Snoek Braai among car lovers has become one of South Africa’s most scenic motoring events. Now in its second year as a full-scale show, the Santos Beach Auto Extremo returns to Mossel Bay on Sunday 7 September, 2025.
With a backdrop of ocean views and mountain passes, this beachfront showcase brings together veteran, vintage, retro and modern supercars — from Model T Fords to the latest Ferraris.
Entry for adults is R100 and kids enter for free; the general public can buy tickets from iTickets and exhibitors are invited to sign up at register.santosbeachautoextremo.co.za.
Motoring connoisseurs
Says owner of Scribs BENZeum and event founder Waldo Scribante: “All the great car shows in the world have one thing in common, and that is a beautiful backdrop. There is Villa D’Este, which is the premier classic car event in Italy on the shores of Lake Como, and of course, Pebble Beach, in Monterey, Southern California.
“If you add to that the superlative roads and mountain passes right on our doorstep here in Mossel Bay, you have the makings of an event that could be unrivalled in its appeal to motoring connoisseurs.
Heritage meets horsepower
“Santos Beach Auto Extremo is where the past and future of performance meet. It’s a celebration of automotive passion – from the raw elegance of retro classics to the razor-sharp precision of modern supercars.
“These worlds aren’t rivals – they’re reflections of the same soul. Heritage meets horsepower, and every curve, every chrome detail, tells a story worth sharing,” he says.
2025 Show Highlights
Last year’s debut event featured over 200 exotic and collectible vehicles. Expect another unforgettable mix in 2025, including:
* Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis, and Mercedes-Benz supercars
* A 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SL, 1960 190SL, and Ferrari 512
* American classics like a 1966 Ford Mustang, Studebaker GT, and Ford Thunderbird
* Street rods and vintage pickups from the American Graffiti era
* Rare DKW two-stroke saloons and the iconic BMW 333i
* A special appearance by the rare Porsche 914 – the “Volks-Porsche”
The show caters to all automotive passions, from pre-1918 Model T Fords to modern marvels like the AMG SL Roadster.
eSCapeTour: Franschhoek to Mossel Bay
Returning this year is the eSCapeTour – a scenic two-day rally starting on Friday 5 September in Franschhoek. The route covers iconic passes including Franschhoek Pass and Tradouw Pass, with an overnight stop at Barrydale’s Karoo Art Hotel before rolling into Mossel Bay on Saturday.
The Legendary Snoek Braai
Honouring tradition, members of the Mercedes-Benz Club and Southern Cape Old Car Club will be treated to the original Spring Snoek Braai, prepared by Kobus Harris and his team.
“What started as a snoek picnic has evolved into a world-class motoring showcase,” says Scribante. “It’s where classic elegance meets modern performance—set in one of the most iconic coastal towns in the country.”
Community Support and Local Involvement
The event is proudly supported by local partners including the Lions Club, Round Table, and NSRI Mossel Bay, ensuring well-managed, family-friendly facilities.
Organised with the support of #ICONIC Mossel Bay, the event also plays a key role in promoting the region as a Southern Cape treasure.
