Cape Town-based contemporary jazz ensemble Sun Quintet enters a new chapter with its highly anticipated sophomore album Still Becoming, set for release on 30 October, with lead single Winter Sun already out.

In celebration of the album’s release, Sun Quintet is taking its music to audiences through a series of live performances and listening experiences. The tour offers an opportunity to encounter the ensemble’s latest work in intimate settings, bringing listeners closer to the music and the ideas that inform it.

Collective expression, a shared curiosity

Sun Quintet brings together improvisation, collective expression and a shared curiosity for sound, creating music that moves between considered composition and spontaneous interplay.

The ensemble’s work embraces jazz as a living, evolving form, making space for individual voices while allowing the group’s collective identity to shape the music. With Still Becoming, the quintet continues to develop this musical language, exploring themes of growth, transformation and the ongoing process of becoming.

The show goes beyond the performance, creating space for audiences to engage directly with the musicians, ask questions and discover the stories, influences and creative processes behind the album.

With Winter Sun offering the first glimpse into the album, these sessions invite listeners to experience the next chapter of Sun Quintet’s journey as it unfolds, ahead of the album’s official release.
