This year’s festival promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring a stellar lineup of South Africa’s top musicians, including the soulful Dumza Maswana, known for his captivating stage presence and heart-wrenching melodies.
The enchanting Lungiswa Plaatjies’ velvety voice will transport listeners to a world of elegance and sophistication. Multi-instrumentalist Volley Nchabeleng will showcase his skills and infectious energy.

Marimba Explosion Program
Imbewu Marimba Community’s remarkable journey began in 2017 with the launch of their Marimba Explosion Program. This innovative initiative aimed to revive and celebrate indigenous practices through music and dance performance exhibitions. Over the years, the community has worked tirelessly to promote cultural heritage and empower local musicians, ultimately enriching the lives of the entire community.
Join the fun – participate in the theme song

School marimba bands take centre stage
In an exciting twist, school marimba bands consisting of talented pupils between the ages of 12 and 20 years will take turns to play the theme song at the festival. Imagine the energy and enthusiasm of these young musicians as they showcase their skills and perform alongside some of South Africa’s top artists.
Celebrating community and heritage
The 4th Marimba Xplosion Festival is a heartfelt tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Langa township. This year’s theme, Zingqi neZandi of The South (Rhythms and sounds of the south), pays homage to the area’s rich musical history, while also commemorating 101 years since the establishment of Langa.
