Interactive cooking demos, curated tastings, cool cafés and bars, trendsetting kitchens and more – the foodie experience at Decorex Cape Town and Joburg, organised by RX is hotter than ever. From beautifully curated homeware to fast, fresh flavour delivered straight to the stage, this year’s culinary lineup is all about style, substance and serious appetite appeal.

Go and feast your senses from 5 to 8 June 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, and from 24 to 27 July at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Here’s what’s in store at the place where design meets delicious:

@home Cooking Studio

This year’s interactive Cooking Studio is proudly supported by leading homeware retailer @home. Powered by @home’s premium cookware and stylish serveware, this dynamic kitchen space is brought to life by Food Jams and built by Cami Space + Design.

Mr D, South Africa’s most loved on-demand delivery App, will be delivering groceries that have been chosen from the Pick n Pay selection on the App, to the studio for the chefs to include in their recipes. Food prep is taken care of thanks to @home and the latest kitchen tech and appliances from Samsung, making every plate a celebration of innovation and taste.

The schedule of live cook-ups gives you a front-row seat to the future of food. The full lineup of demos is available on the free-to-download Decorex Africa app for Apple and Android. Seating is unreserved and the cook-ups are included in the price of the entry ticket.

Rialheim Café

Exclusively at Decorex Cape Town, the Rialheim Café is one of this year’s standout features. Expect walls and counters adorned with exquisite handmade tiles, sculptural ceramics woven through the interiors and tableware that turns every bite into a design moment. Between sips of your smooth brew, sink into a full sensory experience that celebrates texture, craftsmanship and local creativity.

The Line Avenue Bar

Krineshen Reddy, founder and director of Shalom Interiors, is the creative force behind The Line Avenue Bar, this year’s reimagining of the annual Decorex bubbly bar. The Line Avenue Bar takes conceptual design to the next level, starting with its a golden seam that splits the space down the middle, with a different design concept on either side.

On one side, rich, textural black-on-black finishes envelop you in what Reddy calls ‘the velvet calm of midnight’, while charred timber, matte metals and obsidian panels create a space of shadow and sophistication punctuated by the lilt of atmospheric jazz. Cross the golden threshold and suddenly you’re bathed in an eruption of vibrant colour, high-gloss surfaces, brushed brass and custom Ndebele-inspired graphics, where the lighting shifts throughout the day, mimicking a sunrise-to-noon transition, and upbeat Afro house and neo-soul music set a different emotional tone.

What sets The Line Avenue Bar apart from conventional exhibition refreshment spots is how it invites participation. Visitors are encouraged to touch, sit and move between the two worlds – to experience design not as observers but as active participants. This interactivity extends to the installation’s sustainability credentials, with over half of the structure made out of repurposed wood, salvaged from older hotel and restaurant projects. ‘It’s a subtle way to say our future is built on the shoulders of our past,’ Reddy explains.

Kings of the kitchen

Earlier this year, Decorex Africa and Blum South Africa collaborated on a call-out to designers across the country, inviting them to dream up beautiful living spaces using Blum’s cutting-edge fittings. From a vast array of entries, the panel of judges chose three winners: Unique Kitchens, RF Designs and MCE Cupboards.

These standout talents will each create a one-of-a-kind Living with Blum showcase for Decorex Cape Town, using Blum products to realise their vision. Their show displays are also made possible by Uni-Panel, Franke, Caesarstone, EeziQuartz, Infinity and Lutum. Ultimately, the Living with Blum feature is a gorgeous guide to using Blum products to achieve beautiful and functional living spaces. In addition, there is a host of incredible kitchen designers and manufacturers exhibiting at both shows.
