Cape Town’s celebrated CAUSE | EFFECT Cocktail Kitchen invites guests to a one-of-a-kind, immersive 4-course food and cocktail pairing at the V&A Waterfront venue. Set within The Lab, an intimate space reserved exclusively for this experience, The Bartender’s Table offers a curated journey through the natural elements of the Cape.
The experience goes beyond the glass. Guests are seated at a private counter with their own private bartender, who mixes each drink in front of them while talking through the process, the ingredients, and the inspiration and story behind the pairings. Every element on the table has a purpose, and it all tells a local story.
Inspired by the concept of Bar Terroire, each of the four pairings is rooted in a different region.
They are:
Ocean opens the evening with a bright, clarified mix of grapefruit and buchu, served with Weskus snoek pâté, parmesan, melba toast and apricot jam.
Mountain pairs a red pepper and lime cocktail with a fresh spinach salad tossed in a garlic parmesan dressing, finished with sesame and sea salt.
Vineyard is rich and earthy; a mix of aged rum, Pinotage, brandy and pear served alongside mielie pap, boerewors, tomato relish and a touch of truffle.
Fynbos ends the experience with rooibos tea, honey and lemon, with the option to add South African potstill brandy, paired with nitro olive oil ice cream, honeycomb, tonka bean and vanilla.
Designed for groups of two to six guests, The Bartender’s Table offers a private, interactive setting where the cocktail takes its place alongside cuisine as a storytelling medium. It’s theatrical, educational and rooted in a deep appreciation of the Cape’s heritage.
